Panchami of Shukla Paksha of Magh month is celebrated throughout the country on the festival of Basant Panchami. On this day, there is a provision to worship the mother goddess of knowledge, Saraswati. At the same time there are many mythological fast stories of Basant Panchami. The story of Saraswati Puja is related to Brahma Vaivrata Purana and Matsya Purana.

According to the folklore, once Brahma ji came out to walk on the tremor and he saw humans and animals, all appeared dull and calm. Seeing this, Brahma ji felt something lacking and he took water from his kamandal and sprinkled it on the earth. As soon as the water was sprinkled, a beautiful woman with four arms appeared, with a veena in one hand, a garland in one, a book in one and a bridesmaid in one hand. Chaturanan called her as Saraswati, the mother goddess of knowledge. According to Brahma ji's command, Saraswati ji strums the strings of the veena, so that all the creatures start speaking, the rivers blossom and the wind also blows the sound of the sound of the sound. Since then Saraswati was worshiped as the goddess of wisdom and music.

According to the legend, Goddess Saraswati once saw Lord Krishna and she was fascinated by him. She wanted to have him as a husband, but when Lord Krishna came to know, she said that she was only devoted to Radharani. But to convince Saraswati, he gave a boon that from today on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of Magh, the whole world will worship you as the goddess of learning and knowledge. At the same time, Lord Krishna first worshiped Goddess Saraswati, ever since then people have been worshiping Mother Saraswati on the day of Basant Panchami.

According to other legends, mother Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, was born on this day. Saraswati was developed from the mouth of Brahma, the author of Rishti. In Western India, Mother Saraswati is considered as the daughter of Lord Surya. It is believed that Saraswati was married to Karthikeya. On the other hand in eastern India, Saraswati is considered the daughter of Parvati. He is said to be one of the three wives of God Vishnu (Saraswati, Ganga and Lakshmi).
