Kainchi Dham Mela 2026 Traffic Alert: Complete Ban on Private Cars & Two-Wheelers from June 14–16; Check Shuttle & Parking Guide

With lakhs of devotees descending upon the valley for the highly revered Kainchi Dham (Neem Karoli Baba Ashram) Foundation Day on June 15, 2026, the Nainital District Police and Uttarakhand administration have enforced an extensive, strict traffic diversion and transit management plan operational from June 13 to June 16, 2026.

Starting 08:00 AM today (June 14), the movement of private vehicles and two-wheelers directly heading towards the ashram is strictly prohibited.

1. Strict Transit Restrictions (June 14 – 16)

  • Absolute Ban on Two-Wheelers: From 08:00 AM on June 14 until 04:00 PM on June 16, all taxi bikes, scooters, and motorcycles are barred from plying towards the shrine. Two-wheelers are being intercepted and restricted at Nariman Tiraha (Kathgodam), Kaladhungi, Vikas Bhawan parking, and Bhowali.

  • Heavy Vehicle Ban: Heavy commercial and cargo trucks are completely restricted from plying on this corridor from 06:00 AM on June 14 until 11:00 PM on June 16.

  • Mandatory Route Stickers: Police have deployed color-coded route stickers for vehicles navigating through the hill circuits. Ensure authorized stickers are visibly pasted to avoid heavy penalties or vehicle impounding.

2. Dedicated Shuttle Services & Official Parking Lots

To bypass personal commuting bottlenecks in the narrow valley, authorities have instituted a robust 'Park & Ride' layout utilizing hundreds of shuttle buses and cabs.

  • Key Shuttle Service Boarding Points:

    • Haldwani: Roadways Kemu Station, Proposed ISBT Parking (Gaulapar).

    • Kathgodam: Railway Station, Nagar Nigam Inter College.

    • Bhowali: Sanatorium Parking, Janglaat Barrier.

    • Additional Hubs: Khairna, Paniram Damba, Tallital Taxi Stand, Block Parking Bhimtal.

  • Designated Four-Wheeler Parks: Travelers can safely park their cars at Sanatorium Bhowali, Nainiband-1 (Nainital Road), Farasouli Transport Corp Parking, Vikas Bhawan Bhimtal, Kathgodam Railway Station, and Haldwani transit bays.

3. Heightened Security & Public Relief Measures

  • Super Zones for Security: The entire mela zone is highly segmented into 4 Super Zones and 14 distinct Sectors. Ground patrolling is rigorously supported by CAPF, SSB, ATS, BDS (Bomb Disposal Squad), and SDRF commandos to ensure absolute safety.

  • Extended Business Hours: To provide uninterrupted food, drinking water, and emergency medical aid, local shops, dhabas, and pharmacies across Bhimtal, Bhowali, Nainital, and Haldwani are authorized to remain open until midnight (12:00 AM) through June 16.
