Mathura/Vrindavan, January 4, 2026: The Uttar Pradesh government, led by CM Yogi Adityanath, has fast-tracked the transformative 'Banke Bihari Temple Corridor' project in the holy city of Vrindavan. In a significant development, a high-level administrative team today initiated a comprehensive 'Digital Mapping Survey' of the areas surrounding the world-famous shrine.
Vrindavan’s 'Kunj Galis' (narrow lanes) are iconic for their spiritual charm, but the massive surge in the number of devotees over recent years has made crowd management a major challenge. During festivals and weekends, the narrow access routes often lead to stampede-like situations. To provide a permanent solution, the government is developing a massive corridor modeled after the successful Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi.
Digital Mapping: Using advanced surveying equipment, the team is gathering precise data on lane width, building structures, and distance from the temple to create a foolproof blueprint.
Seamless Entry and Exit: The corridor will feature three grand entry routes, ensuring that devotees can enter and exit the temple complex without any congestion.
Enhanced Pilgrim Facilities: The 5-acre project includes world-class amenities such as waiting lounges, clean drinking water dispensers, medical centers, and cloakrooms for the convenience of pilgrims.
Preserving Heritage: Local authorities have assured that the development will be carried out with the utmost care to preserve the ancient spiritual essence and architectural heritage of the historic lanes.
While the project aims to revolutionize the pilgrimage experience, the administration is also working on a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for affected shopkeepers and residents. The goal is to boost religious tourism in the Braj region while making the Darshan of Thakur Banke Bihari safe, dignified, and accessible for everyone.
Conclusion: The Banke Bihari Corridor is set to be a landmark in religious infrastructure, balancing modern safety requirements with ancient traditions. Once the survey is concluded, the construction is expected to begin in full swing, promising a new era for Vrindavan’s spiritual landscape.
