The holy city of Ayodhya is gearing up for a historic Makar Sankranti (January 14) this year. This marks the first Makar Sankranti since the grand inauguration and Pran Pratishtha of the Ram Mandir. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is leaving no stone unturned to celebrate this day as a monumental festival.
To elevate the festive spirit, the entire temple complex will be decorated with rare and fragrant flowers sourced from across the country and abroad. Special floral patterns will be crafted on the intricately carved walls and pillars. A floral carpet will be laid out from the main entrance to the sanctum sanctorum (Garbhagriha) to welcome devotees.
On the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, a special shringar (adoration) of Lord Ram Lalla will be performed:
New Attire: Ram Lalla will wear specially designed, hand-woven silk garments. These robes will feature exquisite embroidery with gold and silver threads.
Special Offerings (Bhog): In line with the tradition of the festival, the deity will be offered special dishes made of sesame (til) and jaggery (gud). The traditional Khichdi bhog will be the main highlight of the day’s offerings.
Expecting a massive influx of lakhs of pilgrims, the administration has intensified its arrangements:
Extended Darshan Hours: To accommodate the large crowds, the duration for Darshan may be extended.
Security and Amenities: Special 'holding areas', drinking water stations, and primary healthcare centers have been set up for the pilgrims.
Cultural Events: Bhajans, kirtans, and various cultural programs will be organized across the various ghats and monasteries of Ayodhya.
This celebration is not just a religious event but a symbol of Ayodhya’s growing cultural pride following the construction of the magnificent Ram Temple.
