Bhajan Kirtan in India refers to any devotional song with religious themes or spiritual thoughts in any language. The hymn devout devotees express their thoughts to their God by speaking or singing their thoughts in song. The word bhajan means 'Shraddha', a word derived from the Sanskrit word Bhaj. In Hinduism, most of the bhajans are sung in kirtan jagran or worship. Bhajans are sung for Hindu Gods and Goddesses like Shiva, Krishna, Durga Mata, Lakshmi, Rama etc.
