The Uttarakhand government today announced that the redevelopment and beautification work for two of the state's prominent shrines, Badrinath and Kedarnath, is progressing rapidly. The government expressed confidence that the ambitious 'Master Plan' for Badrinath Dham will be completed by April 2026. This will directly benefit lakhs of pilgrims visiting during the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, who will be provided with world-class facilities.
The Master Plan for Badrinath Dham has been designed with the objective of transforming it into a modern and well-organized pilgrimage site. Under this plan:
Wider Paths and Infrastructure: Roads and pathways around the temple complex are being widened to facilitate smoother movement for pilgrims.
Guest Houses and Amenities: New guest houses, resting places, and modern sanitation facilities are under construction.
Safety and Aesthetics: Robust infrastructure is being built for disaster preparedness, and development work is being carried out while preserving the natural beauty of the Dham.
Target Completion: The government has set an April 2026 deadline to ensure the Dham is fully prepared for the Char Dham Yatra.
Meanwhile, several important works have also been completed in Kedarnath Dham to enhance pilgrim facilities. Notably, the construction of new 'Rain Shelters' has been finalized. These shelters will provide much-needed refuge to pilgrims during inclement weather and sudden downpours, making their journey safer and more comfortable. This initiative is especially crucial for a challenging location like Kedarnath.
These development works are expected to have a long-term positive impact on Uttarakhand's Char Dham Yatra. Improved facilities and enhanced safety measures will offer pilgrims a more pleasant and secure travel experience, thereby boosting religious tourism in the state.
