Rohini Vrat is an important fast of the people of Jain community, this fast is observed by the people of Jain community. This fast is observed on the day of Rohini Nakshatra. Hence this fast is called Rohini Vrat. At the end of Rohini Nakshatra, Rohini fast is broken. Margashirsha Nakshatra comes after the end of Rohini Nakshatra. Rohini Vrat is 12 in a year, that is, it comes in every month. Falahar is done before sunset as no food is eaten at night.
It is believed that this fast is observed continuously for 3, 5 or 7 years. If we talk about the proper duration then it is 5 years and 5 months. This fast is ended by Udyapan. This fast can be done by both men and women. However, this fast is considered obligatory for women. It is believed in the Jain community that this fast gives special results and helps in getting rid of the bondage of karma.
Rohini Vrat Puja Method:
- On this day one should get up in Brahma Muhurta and clean the house should also be done well. After this, after retiring from all routine activities, one should clean the house after taking bath.
- Take bath-meditation with water containing Gangajal and then take a vow of fasting.
- Purify yourself by doing aamchan.
- First offer water to the Sun God. It is forbidden to have dinner during this fast in Jainism. Fruits should be eaten before sunset.
