To manage footfall and maintain public safety, traffic authorities in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand have deployed extensive traffic advisories and route diversions.
Delhi-Haridwar Highway (NH-58): Heavy transport vehicles (HTVs) face restrictions from July 30. Full vehicular movement on NH-58 and the Ganga Canal road will be completely banned from August 4 to August 12 to make way for walking pilgrims.
Delhi-Meerut Expressway: Reserved exclusively for Dak Kanwars and foot pilgrims between August 7 and August 12.
Delhi Border Diversions: Heavy transport vehicles entering from UP borders (Seemapuri, Bhopura, Loni) are being rerouted via NH-9 and NH-44.
Surveillance: Over 7,000 AI-enabled CCTV cameras, drones, and temporary police booths are actively monitoring the Yatra corridors.
Medical Services: Dozens of medical camps and dedicated ambulances have been posted along key routes for immediate health assistance.
Closure of Liquor/Non-Veg Outlets: Non-vegetarian eateries and liquor shops along designated Kanwar routes have been temporarily closed or cleared.
Use Alternate Highways: Travelers heading toward Uttarakhand, Dehradun, or Haridwar should use the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) or NH-9 to avoid severe congestion.
Plan Ahead: Expect longer travel durations and potential delay on inter-city bus routes.
