Char Dham Yatra 2026: Offline Registrations in Haridwar Cross 25,000; Additional Budget of ₹300 Crore Released for Pilgrim Facilities

Haridwar: The enthusiasm of devotees for the Char Dham Yatra 2026 is shattering all previous records. The number of pilgrims opting for offline registration at various centers in Haridwar has crossed the 25,000 mark. In response to this massive surge and increasing crowds, the Uttarakhand administration has taken a significant step.

Surge in Devotees and Administrative Preparedness

As the days progress following the opening of the portals of Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham, the influx of travelers in Haridwar and Rishikesh is becoming increasingly immense. Long queues are being witnessed at major registration hubs. The administration has clarified that daily slots are being allotted strictly in accordance with safety protocols and available facilities.

Extra Budget of ₹300 Crore: Special Focus on Accommodation and Water

To protect pilgrims from the inconvenience caused by the scorching heat and heavy crowds, the government has allocated an additional budget of ₹300 crore. This fund will primarily be utilized for the following:

  • Temporary Shelters: Additional tent cities and night shelters (Rain Baseras) are being constructed at Haridwar and key stopovers along the yatra route to ensure no pilgrim has to sleep in the open.

  • Drinking Water Facilities: In view of the prevailing heatwave, cold water machines and water tanks are being installed every 500 meters along the travel route.

  • Sanitation and Mobile Toilets: Considering the large presence of devotees, the number of mobile toilets and sanitation workers is being increased significantly.

Administration's Appeal: "Proceed Only After Registration"

The District Magistrate has requested pilgrims to begin their journey beyond Rishikesh only after confirming their registration number and time slot. To manage the increasing pressure in Haridwar, QR code-based verification points have now been increased across various locations.

The Divine India Tip:

"If you are in the queue for offline registration in Haridwar, make sure to carry an umbrella and a water bottle. Given the crowds, it may take 4 to 6 hours to receive your token; please maintain patience and follow the administration’s instructions."
