Meaning: On the battleground, Lord Sri Ramachandra stood exhausted from the war, filled with deep thought. In the meantime, Ravana appeared before him, fully prepared for battle. Observing this, the revered Sage Agastya, who had arrived along with the deities to witness the great war, approached Sri Rama and spoke to him.

Rama rama mahabaho shrinu guhyam sanatanam . Yena sarvanarin vatsa samare vijayishyase .. 3 ..

Meaning: The name of this sacred and confidential hymn is 'Aditya Hrudaya'. It is supremely holy and destroys all enemies. Daily chanting of this stotra ensures constant victory. Meaning: Your golden splendor is like highly refined and molten gold. You are Hari (the remover of ignorance) and Vishwakarma (the architect of the universe). You are the vanquisher of darkness, the embodiment of self-luminous brilliance, and the eternal witness of the entire universe. Salutations to You.

Nashayatyesha vai bhutam tameva srijati prabhuh . Payatyesha tapatyesha varshatyesha gabhistibhih .. 22 ..

Meaning: O Raghunandana! This Supreme Lord Surya alone brings about the destruction, creation, and sustenance of all living entities. He alone radiates intense heat and causes rainfall through his cosmic rays.

Esha supteshu jagarti bhuteshu parinishthitah . Esha chaivagnihotram cha phalam chaivagnihotrinam .. 23 ..

Meaning: Residing as the indwelling soul (Antaryami) within all beings, He remains awake and vigilant even when they are fast asleep. He alone is the sacred Agnihotra sacrifice, as well as the ultimate spiritual fruits obtained by the performers of Agnihotra.

Devashcha kratavaishchaiva kratunam phalameva cha . Yani krityani lokeshu sarveshu paramaprabhuh .. 24 ..

Meaning: The deities who accept offerings in sacrifices, the Vedic rituals themselves, and the rewards of those rituals are all Him. He is completely capable of bestowing the fruits of every single action performed across all the worlds.

Enamapatsu krichchreshu kantareshu bhayeshu cha . Kirtayan purushah kashchinnavasidati raghava .. 25 ..

Meaning: O Raghav! Any individual who chants the glories of this Sun God during times of intense calamity, severe hardships, dense wilderness, or when gripped by any kind of fear, shall never succumb to grief or sorrow.

Pujayasvainamekagro devadevam jagatpatim . Etat trigunitam japtva yuddheshu vijayishyati .. 26 ..

Meaning: Therefore, focus your mind with absolute concentration and worship this Lord of all lords, the Master of the universe. By chanting this Aditya Hrudaya three times consecutively, you will emerge victorious in this war.

Asmin kshane mahabaho ravanam tvam jahishyasi . Evamuktva tatogastyo jagama sa yathagatam .. 27 ..

Meaning: O mighty-armed one! At this very moment, you will be able to slay Ravana. Having delivered this divine message, Sage Agastya departed in the same way he had arrived.

Meaning: Hearing this profound advice, the exceptionally brilliant Sri Ramachandra was completely relieved of his exhaustion and mental grief. Feeling highly pleased and with a purified mind, he deeply absorbed the Aditya Hrudaya. He performed Achamana (sipping holy water) three times to purify himself, gazed towards Lord Surya, and chanted the stotra three times. This filled his entire being with supreme joy. Then, the immensely brave Raghunatha lifted his divine bow, looked directly at Ravana, and marched forward with great enthusiasm to attain victory. He resolved with full effort to bring about the destruction of Ravana.

Atha raviravadannirikshya ramam muditanah paramam prahrishyamanah . Nishicharapatisankshayam viditva suraganamadhyagato vachastwareti .. 31 ..

Meaning: At that sublime moment, Lord Surya, standing amidst the assembly of gods, looked down upon Sri Ramachandra with immense happiness and absolute delight. Knowing that the final hour of the demon king Ravana’s destruction had arrived, He spoke out with great joy, saying: "O Raghunandana! Hurry now!"
