Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya this is a famous Hindu mantra. This mantra is the mantra of Lord Vishnu and Shri Krishna. There are two traditions in it - Tantric and Puranic. Tantric and Puranic. In Tantrik Tradition, the Rishi of the Mantra is Prajapati, in Puranic Tradition the Rishi is Narada. However, both say that this is the Supreme Vishnu mantra. Sharada Tilak Tantram says that Dvadasharno mahamantrah pradhano Vaishnavagame' is the chief in twelve Vaishnava mantras. Similarly, the 12th chapter of 'Shrimad Bhagvatam' has been taken as an extension of 12 letters of this mantra. This mantra is called Mantra of salvation and is considered as a spiritual formula for attaining salvation. This mantra is the main mantra of 'Shrimad Bhagvatam', the description of this mantra is also found in Vishnu Purana.

Meaning of this Mantra:
Om — Om is a Brahminic and cosmic sound.
Namo — Salutation and Obeisance.
Bhagavate — powerful, compassionate and who is divine.
Vasudevaya — Vaasu means: life and god in all creatures means: God It means that God (life / light) is the life of all creatures.


Lord Vasudev! That is what Vasudev God Narayan becomes from Narvaan, I obeisance him. When Narayan becomes, then Vasudeva is called.
