Procedure of Ashtami fast

  • Devotees who observe fast on Ashtami Tithi take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes.
  • Install the idol or picture of Maa Durga or the concerned deity for worship.
  • Light a lamp, offer fruits, flowers, and naivedya.
  • Recite Durga Chalisa and Saptashati.
  • On the day of the fast, devotees eat fruits and conclude the fast with Parana the next day.
