On the occasion of Swarg Rohni, the Pandavas were absolved of the sin of killing the clan by touching the body of this linga. The idols of five Pandavas including Draupadi have been present in this linga located in rock form since ancient times. Aakash Shakti, Patala Shakti, Bhushakti in the form of old Trishuls along with Linga is situated in the form of Sri Guru Kalapir Shiva Shakti. This 'fifth pilgrimage' between Yamnotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath is mentioned in the verse of Kedarkhand of Skandapuran.

When the Pandavas reached there, the old man disappeared and a huge Shivalinga appeared. The sage asked him to embrace the Shivling to be absolved of his sins.
