At some point or the other, we wonder, “Will Kali Yuga really end?”
When we see murder, deception, corruption and inhumane incidents in newspapers and news every day, our hearts become heavy. It seems as if humanity is breathing its last. Those who have drowned in the ocean of sorrows keep hoping in their hearts that God will incarnate on earth again, destroy all sins and end this Kali Yuga.
Kali Yuga, which began after Dwapara Yuga, is not just the name of a time, but a symbol of our collective mental and spiritual degradation.
In the Puranas, it is called the “Kala Yuga” – a time when truth is blurred, goodness is ignored and strife pervades every relationship.
This is the age when people hate each other for no reason, and the light of the soul is lost in the darkness of ignorance.
After the end of Mahabharata, Sri Krishna leaving his human body and returning to Vaikunth, the ascension of Pandavas to heaven and the destruction of Yaduvansh—all these events were signs of the advent of Kali Yuga.
According to historical and religious beliefs, Kali Yuga began in 3102 BC. Till date, 5126 years of this have passed.
According to Vishnu Purana and Bhagavata Purana, the duration of Kali Yuga is 4,32,000 years. This means that we are just at the beginning—only 5,000 years of Kali Yuga have passed and about 4,26,000 years are left.
This may sound depressing, but like every Yuga, this one will also end.
On Earth (Bhooloka), time moves at a different speed than in Swargalok and Pitarloka. One year of a human being is equivalent to only one day for the Gods. This means that in God’s time scale, this Yuga is not even a moment long.
The Peak of Kaliyug – When Morality Will Completely End
It is said in the Puranas that when Kaliyug reaches its peak –
Even though Kali Yuga is long, the Puranas also say that a person who takes the name of God with true devotion and follows the path of Dharma and compassion can find peace and salvation even in this age.
Remember—no matter how dense the darkness is, light spreads as soon as a lamp is lit.
