We all worship gods and goddesses in our homes and temples. But have you ever considered the relationships of these divine couples? It's not just a ritual of worship, but a remarkable example of the balance of love, sacrifice, and power.
In our scriptures, every divine power is accompanied by a goddess who completes them, supports them, and supports them in the operation of creation. To maintain balance in creation, each divine power resides with a goddess who complements that power:
When we mention Lord Shiva's name, Parvati automatically comes to mind. Their relationship symbolizes love, penance, and unwavering faith. Parvati is Shiva's power, his better half—male power is incomplete without female power.
Lord Vishnu and his wife Lakshmi: This relationship is one of prosperity and nurturing. While Vishnu is the preserver of the universe, Lakshmi provides him with wealth and prosperity to run the world.
Lord Ganesha and his wife Riddhi-Siddhi: Riddhi means prosperity, and Siddhi means success. Thus, both these powers are always present with the god of wisdom (Ganesha)—wisdom is useful in life only when it brings prosperity and success.
Lord Brahma and his wife Saraswati: While Brahma is the creator of the universe, Saraswati gives him the power of knowledge and speech. Creation of the universe is impossible without knowledge.
Lord Rama and his wife Sita: This relationship is the ultimate example of dignity, dedication, and purity. Sita supported Rama through every difficulty, teaching us that no matter how great the obstacles in a relationship, love and trust should never be abandoned.
Lord Krishna and his wife Rukmini: Krishna's love was embodied in his wife Rukmini. This relationship reflects the sweetness and devotion of life.
Lord Indra and his wife Shachi (or Indrani): Indra is the king of heaven and the god of rain. His wife Shachi (Indrani) is considered the most powerful and respected of the goddesses. Their relationship represents power, opulence, and leadership, as well as Shachi's steadfast support through Indra's various ups and downs.
Lord Surya and his wife Sanjna: The Sun God is the source of all energy. His wife Sanjna (or Sanjna) supports him. Their relationship teaches us how important it is to maintain balance with intensity and energy in life. The Sun God has two wives: Sanjna (or Saranyu) and Chaya. Sanjna, the daughter of Vishwakarma, unable to bear her radiance, left her shadow as Surya's wife and went into penance. Chaya, born from Sanjna's shadow, took her place, causing Surya to believe he was still with his first wife.
Lord Chandra and his wife Rohini: The Moon is the god of coolness and mind. His wife is Rohini. This relationship symbolizes peace, beauty, and emotional stability.
Lord Varuna and his wife Varuni: Varuna is the lord of water and the oceans. His wife is Varuni, who is also considered the goddess of wine. Their relationship reflects the vastness of nature and the presence of all kinds of pleasures or enjoyments in life.
Lord Agni and his wife Swaha: Agni is considered the god of sacrifice and purification. His wife is Swaha. Any offering in a sacrifice is accepted only when offered to the fire with the utterance of "Swaha." This relationship symbolizes karma and the process of its acceptance.
Lord Vayu (the wind god) and his wife Marudevi: Pawan is the lord of air. His wife is Marudevi. This relationship signifies the importance of the most essential element (air) for life and its purity.
Lord Kubera and his wife Kauveeri: Kubera is the god of wealth and the king of the Yakshas. His wife is Kauveeri. This relationship signifies not only the accumulation of wealth, but also its proper management and stability.
Lord Kamadeva and his wife Rati: Kamadeva is the god of love and attraction. His wife Rati is the goddess of love. This relationship highlights the importance of love, beauty, and emotional connection in life.
All of our gods and goddesses are worshipped within a complete family, which teaches us that family harmony and the companionship of a life partner are the greatest strengths in life.
