Varanasi/Haridwar: Today, Saturday, March 21, 2026, marks the third day of Chaitra Navratri. This day is dedicated to the Maa Chandraghanta manifestation of Adi Shakti. This form of the Goddess is a magnificent blend of courage, bravery, and peace. Adorning her forehead is a half-moon shaped like a bell (Ghanta); while its formidable sound strikes terror into the hearts of the wicked and demons, it provides a sense of peace and security to her devotees.
Seated on a lion, Maa Chandraghanta has ten hands, in which she wields weapons such as the bow and arrow, sword, trident, and mace. With a complexion that radiates a golden glow, this form of the Goddess is always prepared for battle. This conveys a powerful message: we must always remain vigilant and ready to fight our inner vices as well as external enemies.
For the third day of Navratri, 'Grey' is the designated color. While it may appear simple at first glance, it holds deep spiritual meanings:
Symbol of Balance: Grey is a blend of black and white. It inspires us to maintain balance in life and avoid the pitfalls of extremism.
Invincible Strength: This color is like a rock—appearing calm on the surface but remaining exceptionally strong. Similarly, Maa Chandraghanta is serene by nature, yet she displays fierce power to protect Dharma.
Destruction of Negativity: Grey teaches us to control our emotions and remain 'neutral' toward evils, choosing only the path of truth.
Favorite Offering (Bhog): Offering milk-based sweets or Kheer with rock sugar (Mishri) to Maa Chandraghanta is considered extremely auspicious. It bestows mental peace.
Mantra: Today, chant: "Pindajapravararudha Chandakopastrakairyuta | Prasadam Tanute Mahyam Chandraghanteti Vishruta ||"
Special Benefit: As today is Saturday, worshipping the Goddess also helps in reducing the malefic effects of Shani Dosha.
