Jaya Ekadashi Katha (Story)

The festival was going on in Nandan Van. All the gods, perfect saints and divine men were present in this festival. At that time Gandharva was singing and Gandharva girls were performing dance. A Gandharva named Malyavan and a Gandharva girl named Pushpavati were dancing in the meeting. In the meantime, as soon as Pushyavati's eyes fell on Malyavan, she was fascinated by him. Forgetting the dignity of the assembly, Pushyavati started dancing in such a way that the wealthy would be attracted towards her. Seeing the gesture of the virtuous Gandharva girl, he lost his mind and deviated from the limits of singing, due to which the melody left him.

Indra was enraged at Pushpavati and Malyavan's indecent act and cursed both of them that you should be deprived of heaven and reside on earth. May both of you get the very lowly vampire vagina in the world of death. Due to this curse, both immediately became vampires and both of them became abode on a tree on the Himalayan mountain. Here they had to suffer a lot in the vampire vagina. Once, on the Ekadashi of Magh Shukla Paksha, both were very sad, that day they were only fruitful. Both were feeling very cold during the night, so both kept awake all night sitting together. Both of them died due to frost and due to inadvertent fasting of Jaya Ekadashi, both of them also got freedom from the vampire vagina. Now Malyavan and Pushpavati became even more beautiful than before and they got a place in heaven.

When Devraj saw both, he was amazed and asked how he got freedom from the vampire vagina. According to Malyavan, this is the effect of Jaya Ekadashi of Lord Vishnu. We are liberated from the vampire vagina by the effect of this Ekadashi. Indra was very pleased with this and said that you are a devotee of Jagdishwar, so you are respected for me from now on, you should live happily in heaven.

Hearing the story, Shri Krishna told that on the day of Jaya Ekadashi, Jagapati Jagdishwar Lord Vishnu is the only worshiper. The devout devotees who keep fast on this Ekadashi should take one meal from the tenth day. Make sure that the diet is sattvik. On the day of Ekadashi, make a resolution by meditating on Shri Vishnu and then worship Vishnu with incense, lamp, sandalwood, fruits, sesame seeds, and Panchamrit.
