Shri Satyanarayan Vrat Katha - Fifth Chapter

Shri Satyanarayan Vrat Katha - Fifth Chapter

Shri Suta Ji continued:

"O sages, I shall now narrate another story.

There was a king named Tungadhwaja who was devoted to the welfare and protection of his subjects. Because he rejected the sacred prasad of Lord Satyanarayan, he had to suffer great sorrow.

Once, while hunting in the forest, the king came to rest beneath a banyan tree after pursuing wild animals. There he saw a group of cowherds, along with their relatives and friends, performing the Shri Satyanarayan Vrat and worship with deep devotion.

However, due to pride, the king neither approached them nor offered his respects to Lord Satyanarayan.

When the cowherds offered him the sacred prasad, he refused to accept it and returned to his kingdom.

Upon reaching his city, he discovered that all his wealth, prosperity, and possessions had been destroyed. He then realized that this misfortune had occurred due to the displeasure of Lord Satyanarayan.

The king immediately returned to the same place, approached the cowherds, and properly performed the worship of Lord Satyanarayan. He then accepted the sacred prasad with reverence.

By the grace of Lord Satyanarayan, everything that had been lost was restored. The king enjoyed happiness and prosperity for a long time and ultimately attained heaven.

Whoever observes this rare and sacred vow with faith and devotion receives the blessings of Lord Satyanarayan. Such a person is blessed with wealth and prosperity. The poor become prosperous, prisoners are freed from bondage and fear, and the childless are blessed with children. All sincere desires are fulfilled, and in the end, the devotee attains the divine abode of Vaikuntha.

Now hear the stories of those who observed this vow and the noble births they attained afterward.

The Brahmin Shatananda was reborn as Sudama. Through his devotion to Lord Krishna, he attained liberation.

King Ulkamukha was reborn as King Dasharatha. By worshipping Lord Ranganatha, he attained Vaikuntha.

The merchant named Sadhu was reborn as the righteous and truth-loving King Moradhwaja. Through his extraordinary devotion and sacrifice, he attained liberation.

King Tungadhwaja was reborn as Swayambhuva Manu. He inspired many people to engage in the worship of God and ultimately attained liberation.

The woodcutter Bhil was reborn as Guha, the Nishada King. By serving Lord Rama and worshipping His holy feet, he attained liberation.

Thus ends the Fifth Chapter of the Shri Satyanarayan Vrat Katha from the Revakhand of the Skanda Purana.
