This verse is from Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 7, Verse 13. It is written in Sanskrit and translated into Hindi as:
tribhir guṇa-mayair bhāvair ebhiḥ sarvam idaṁ jagat
mohitaṁ nābhijānāti māmebhyaḥ param avyayam ||13||
English translation:
"The whole world is covered by the three gunas - sattva, rajas and tamas. It is because of this delusion that people do not recognize Me, who am beyond these gunas and indestructible."
Detailed explanation:
Every human being sees the world through the lens of his mind - sometimes peace and understanding as sattva, sometimes bustle and desire as rajas, and sometimes fatigue and confusion as tamas. Krishna says that the whole world is covered by these three gunas, and this veil keeps us from seeing His true form. Just as the sun appears hidden in mist, these mental qualities confuse us. Unless we learn to recognize and rise above these gunas, the ultimate truth - that which is everlasting, unchanging - is not visible.
